Taylor Seymour-Newton
LPC-S
Taylor was born and raised here in the Texas hill country in Kerrville. She received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Schriener University in 2020 and completed her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in February of 2024 through Walden University. Taylor has worked in foster care, with victims of domestic violence, and in another treatment facility before coming here to us at Warriors Heart. Taylor has her LPC-A license in the state of Texas and has been certified by the NBCC as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). When she’s not on campus working with our warriors Taylor spends her free time with her husband Brandon and their 2 dogs and cat going on hikes and exploring all the beautiful natural sites Texas, and the rest of the world, has to offer.
My Why:
I decided to pursue a specialty in trauma counseling because of my brother-in-law and father-in-law. My brother-in-law is an EMT/Firefighter locally and does peer mediation with his crew after rough calls, but that is all they do. I learned from him that mental health care beyond that is practically non-existent for our first responders. Similarly, my father-in-law was in the Army and has shared on occasion some of the things he had to learn to deal with on his own and the stigma he has faced being a man trying to get help. I am here to learn more about what these populations go through and turn the stigma against mental health on its head. No one should have to suffer alone, especially our warriors.
