Andrea Chivaria
LCDC Intern
Andrea was born and raised in Bavaria, Germany, and moved to Texas in 2016. She holds a BA in Psychology from American Military University in Charles Town, West Virginia, and is currently pursuing her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M-San Antonio, set to graduate in December 2024. Andrea has been married to a retired U.S. Army veteran for over twenty years and is the proud mother of a daughter.
Before her graduate studies, Andrea worked with Army Community Service (ACS) in various roles, including the Mobilization and Deployment Program, the Relocation Program, and as a volunteer for the Family Advocacy Program on the military installation where her husband was stationed. As part of her master’s degree program, Andrea completed an internship at Warriors Heart, where she developed a deep interest in substance use counseling, leading her to attain her LCDC-I. With her personal and professional background in military communities, Andrea is passionate about supporting veterans and first responders on their paths to healing and resilience.
MY WHY
Joining Warriors Heart has brought my journey with the military full circle. As a military spouse, I have witnessed the unique challenges faced by those who serve. Working at Warriors Heart and providing substance use and mental health counseling allows me to give back to a community that has profoundly shaped my life. I’m passionate about helping veterans and first responders find strength and resilience in their healing, knowing firsthand how vital support and understanding are in overcoming life’s toughest battles.
