Greg Lucas
Safety Officer
Greg Lucas was born and raised in El Paso, TX into a law enforcement family, his father spending 43 years as a Texas peace officer. Greg spent 4 years providing security for federal facilities in Lubbock and Pecos TX and, in 2000, Greg followed in his father’s footsteps. Greg spent the next 18 years as a Texas police officer, deputy sheriff and volunteer firefighter. His law enforcement career primarily focused on criminal interdiction and criminal investigations, field training and instruction. In 2018, Greg medically retired from law enforcement due to health related issues. From 2018 to 2019, Greg worked here at Warrior’s Heart but did leave for a time to deal with health and other family issues. Greg has had to overcome obstacles such as PTSD, severe life-threatening health issues and alcoholism. Being in recovery, being a part of the warrior community and dealing with the difficulties that accompany a life in service, Greg is uniquely qualified to help others in similar positions. Greg’s life has been spent in the service of others and, in 2022, Greg was able to return to Warrior’s Heart so he could continue to be of service to others.
My Why:
My career and entire adult life has been focused on providing service to others who need it. After medically retiring from law enforcement, I felt like something was missing from my life. Due to issues such as PTSD, divorce, alcoholism, and depression, I feel I’m in a position to understand why the warrior’s here at Warrior’s Heart need a place to heal. A place where they’re understood and welcomed. And I feel proud to be a part of that process.
