My Why: Guy Spottswood

Brittany Durst
RN

Guy Spottswood was born and raised in upstate New York in the town of Poughkeepsie. He was educated in the local schools and had hopes of attending the world-famous Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park New York, right outside of Poughkeepsie. He never ended up attending the college but, that never deterred him from pursuing the love that he had for the culinary world. Guy started his first professional cooking job at the Radisson hotel as a banquet chef. His journey through the industry has afforded him the opportunity to work at such places as the world’s famous rice diet program at Duke University in Durham North Carolina, where he was the chef there for four years before transferring to the Fuqua School of Business, also at Duke University, as the kitchen supervisor. Chef Guy is also proud to mention his employment at Cornell University as the main house chef at one of the fraternities, which he stayed on there for two years. Guy also has experience in hotels, senior living communities, institutional, restaurants and private cooking expertise.  Through it all his journey has brought him home to serve here at the Warriors heart, Milford Virginia location.

My Why:

I’m so excited to have come on board and be able to offer the residents a good balanced nutritional meal, that will support their recovery journey. It is such a blessing to be part of an organization that supports the wellness of both its residents and staff alike, by creating a wonderful and meaningful environment that teaches core values of respect, healing, and wellness. I’m going to be excited every moment of my day working here, by just knowing that my contribution will be appreciated and needed in the total success and journey of each member of the community. I come from a background full of culinary knowledge and a wealth of experience.
