Heather grew up in Virginia and Southern West Virginia, calling Caroline County her home for many years now. She is the proud mama to two teenaged boys: Eddie and Ty. She started her first responder career by taking EMT-Basic in high school and volunteering at a local fire department. She continued her training to become a firefighter and critical care paramedic. She fell in love with the service side of the business and being able to care for others in some of their most vulnerable times. Heather then went to nursing school and transitioned into the hospital. She has worked in the Emergency Room, Cardiovascular Services, Quality Management, and Education roles. Her passion for education still persists and she has achieved her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership. She is a Certified Emergency Nurse and Certified Nurse Educator. She is active at her church and enjoys spending time serving others on missions trips. She enjoys finding solace in the mountains and being out in nature whenever possible.
My Why:
I started in Fire/EMS 25 years ago and have met many people along the way from various walks of life. I have witnessed first hand the toll this job takes on people and seen their struggles. I have several family members who are active duty or veterans and I have witnessed the challenging transition some may face when returning to civilian life. Warriors Heart offers a unique environment where warriors can heal among other warriors. The first time I walked on campus at Warriors Heart Virginia I could feel the peace and tranquility this land provides to all. It is a blessing and honor to serve warriors while they are healing at Warriors Heart Virginia.
