My Why: Kathleen Habig

Kathleen Habig
CSAC

Kathleen Habig was born in Charlottesville, VA in 1983. She was raised in Herndon, VA where her parents still live. She joined the US Army in 2004 and deployed to Iraq in 2005. She was there from 2005-2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After returning from deployment, she went to MWD (Military Working Dog) school at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. After completing MWD school, Kathleen was assigned to Ft.Myer in Arlington, VA which is home to the Old Guard. There she met her partner of 3 years, Bagio who was a PNDD (Patrol Narcotic Detection Dog). They provided support for the Military District of Washington. Kathleen was discharged in 2011 and 6 months later, she was able to bring her partner home. After the Army, Kathleen worked various jobs before coming a substance use counselor. She passed her CSAC exam in May 2024. In her spare time, she likes to read, museums, horseback ride and outdoor activities when it’s cool.

My Why:

I came to Warriors Heart because the reason I got my CSAC was to help fellow veterans, military and first responders. I want to be able to show them that there is hope and light in the darkness.
