My Why: Kyle Twombly

Kyle Twombly
CR Team Lead

Kyle grew up in Virginia where he faced his own struggles growing up. Watching his mom struggle and being placed by social services to live with his grandparents for a few years as a young kid he learned quickly about life’s struggles. At 18 he joined his local volunteer fire department and quickly fell in love with Fire & EMS forming lifelong friendships and would go on to become paid and have a 14-year career doing various positions in Fire & EMS. Kyle turned his own struggles into helping others with their own journey becoming a certified Crisis intervention Instructor with the MPNN and a Virginia First Responders Support Service peer support member. Kyle comes to Warriors heart with first-hand experience on the struggles first responders face every day with mental health.

My Why.

My why is simple, I went through my own struggles with PTSD and I let it destroy my life and I was ready to call it quits and couldn’t see any other way to help myself when a phone call with a friend finally convinced me to get help, if my friend hadn’t answered the phone I wouldn’t be here today. After two inpatient stays and a 100-hour intensive outpatient program I finally felt like I have a handle on it.

I’ll continue to do therapy and my own journey is far from complete but if I can help just one guy see that it does get better, that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that you can heal then it’ll be worth it. Warriors Heart is such a unique place where Warriors can come and heal and be among other Warriors. I truly believe in the mission here and can’t wait to help other warriors see the transformation as they go through their journey from start to finish. The transformation these Warriors go through is truly amazing and I feel blessed to be a part of it.
