My Why: Loren May

Loren May
Program Director

Loren was born and raised in Caroline County where she still currently resides. She has a M.A. in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Crisis Response & Trauma. Loren comes from a professional background of working with pediatric patients in an inpatient psychiatric hospital as a behavioral health specialist. In 2013, she joined her local volunteer fire department and remains an active volunteer firefighter/EMT today. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors. She particularly enjoys hiking and has a “bucket list” of visiting every U.S. National Park.

My Why:

Mental health has been a passion of mine since being a high school student exploring career options. After graduating with my Bachelor’s and returning home, I decided to join my local volunteer fire department. That is where two passions collided. I have witnessed the mental health struggles of my brothers and sisters, battled my own struggles, and have lost friends and co-workers to suicide. Working at Warriors Heart gives me the opportunity to come alongside my fellow Warriors and let them know that they are not alone and they have a life worth fighting for.
