Warriors Heart Facility

About Warriors Heart

This page provides an overview of the Warriors Heart facility and amenities. Visit our Program page to learn more about clinical and program information.

At Warriors Heart, you’re healing among your brothers and sisters, not at a hospital or impersonal health clinic. In fact, we’ve designed Warriors Heart to be the opposite of a sterile-feeling institution. You or your loved ones have suffered enough. Healing at Warriors should ultimately be an uplifting, positive, and relieving experience. Not easy, but worth it. That’s what we’ve created for our warriors.

The Warriors Heart Private Healing Center now has two locations. One is located in the Hill Country northwest of San Antonio on 543 acres, in Bandera, Texas, and the other is now open in Milford, Virginia, located on 520 acres!

Amenities At The Warriors Heart Facility

With Warriors Heart being on a large private ranch, we have created a space designed for healing and also allowing a number of activities where one may successfully recover. From our comfortable suite-like rooms, chefs, recreational room, onsite gym, fishing ponds, running/walking trails, fire pit, wood and metal shop, K-9 program, world-class clinical team and plenty of space to reflect, one can heal at Warriors Heart with honor.

We have proof that healing involves a number of different approaches and processes, one including the environment, your space, supporting amenities, and available electives. A few of the available Warriors Heart amenities include:

K9 Training

Service dogs are helpful partners to those undergoing recovery from addiction and chemical dependency. The dogs we train at the Warriors Heart facility are specifically trained to become service dogs and provide support for a variety of circumstances.

All of our service dogs are also rescued from local shelters to give them an opportunity to live in a new home while helping Warriors recover from their injuries.

Emotional support and service dogs are incredible battle buddies to those undergoing recovery from chemical dependency and PTS (post-traumatic stress). The dogs we rescue and train at the Warriors Heart facility are specifically trained to become your battle buddy as an emotional support dog or a fully certified service dog.
All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters or former detection/search and rescue dogs to give them an opportunity for a new mission, Warriors Healing Warriors.

Rescue – Training – Placement.

Warriors Heart Art Shop

The Warriors Heart art program serves as a method of healing for those who have an interest in metalwork, woodworking, and painting. Our warriors often find that working with their hands can be therapeutic and lend itself to the healing process by allowing them to express themselves through different means. Some of the heartfelt projects our warriors have created have ranged from handcrafted wooden American flags to police shields formed from repurposed metal.

The artwork can be taken home with the warrior or may be sold at the Warriors Heart Foundation with 100% of the proceeds going to the Foundation to help future warriors that may not be able to afford treatment. There are many opportunities to learn from our talented staff who can teach and lead every client who is interested in learning a new skill.

Hiking & Fishing

Our courses provide warriors the opportunity to rebuild their health and experience the beauty of nature. Whether it be taking a hike through the Warriors Heart property, running the flight line to fishing in our 2 lakes, these activities allow Warriors to take themselves out of their daily obligations and focus on their recovery. There are also several benefits to fishing for those experiencing symptoms of PTSD, allowing for the mind and body to heal in a natural setting.

Nutrition

Providing food for the Warriors Heart clients and staff is a daily mission that has many great rewards. All meals are appealing, visually and aesthetically, to all clients and staff, while also providing nutritional value. This is especially important for clients as they work to become a better version of themselves and need to replace the nutrients that the body has been deprived of due to addiction.

Massage / Bodywork

Many of our Warriors are banged up. Healing the mind and body of a warrior as they go through recovery is of utmost importance. The Warriors Heart facility offers massages and bodywork to help relax and ease the pain to strengthen one’s recovery. By working on and relaxing the body, we hope to give Warriors the ability to focus on their recovery and heal the visible and invisible scars.

Yoga

Yoga has been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of those experiencing the effects of PTSD. Yoga is not meant to be the only therapy a warrior receives, but a complement that could benefit our treatment for addiction and PTSD. Relax and just breath.

Experience Warriors Heart

We have created an environment where you won’t feel alone. When you are on a team again and in a group therapy setting, you are with warriors who understand what you are going through. While our experiences may be different, the pain, struggles, and fears are often the same.
Other treatment facilities mix all populations together which can make it difficult to share experience with those who have not been in similar situations. Our niche is to serve our warriors only … created by warriors for warriors.
